Cécile Dehesdin est étudiante en journalisme à l’Université de Columbia à New York. Elle tient un blog dans lequel elle raconte la formation journalistique qu’elle suit outre-Atlantique.
Elle consacre un billet à l’une des surprises de sa rentrée: un « Cours de Twitter ». Comme elle le fait remarquer, cela pourrait en faire rire plus d’un. Mais les réseaux sociaux ont bel et bien une importance dans le monde de l’information aujourd’hui. Elle rappelle à juste titre ce journaliste d’ABC qui avait annoncé sur Twitter que Barack Obama avait traité Kanye West de « jackass ».
Le monde du journalisme a changé avec l’arrivée de Facebook et Twitter. Nombre de professionnels vous diront utiliser l’un ou l’autre ou les deux dans le cadre de leur profession. Que ce soit pour « ne pas louper la bonne info » ou pour rester informé tout en consolidant son réseau professionnel. Une nouvelle forme de journalisme, plus personnelle (une des règles est de ne poster quelque chose de personnel que tous les 4 ou 5 tweets/statuts), verrait-elle le jour ?
Ce débat ne date pas d’aujourd’hui aux Etats-Unis. La question de l’objectivité dans la provision de l’information (qui est une fois de plus abordée dans le cas de Twitter) s’est déjà posée avec l’émergence des blogs, qui ont permis à des « anonymes » de jouir d’une certaine influence sur les médias traditionnels. La profession toute entière a tremblé alors que les « scoops » venaient de plus en plus de la blogosphère (Le cas du Sénateur Trent Lott en 2002 en a marqué le point de départ). Les blogs, depuis repris par les médias traditionnels, cohabitent tant bien que mal avec ces derniers et détiennent un certain pouvoir, plus particulièrement en politique (Barack Obama ne me contredira pas quant à l’utilisation des blogs et des réseaux sociaux).
Twitter semble s’imposer (plus comme un outil que comme une forme de journalisme, certes) comme un passage essentiel pour tout journaliste. A utiliser cependant avec précaution (« Attention aux bavures » nous rappelle Cécile), que ce soit pour ce que vous y écrivez ou lisez…
